CATCH REPORTS FROM THE PIERS

The Latest - as at 05/02/03 - Reports brought to you courtesy of 'Yo!' Mr Stingray

Dover Southern Breakwater

Since the last update nothing terribly exciting has happened although catches were very good over the Christmas holidays, comprising mainly of huge Pouting, Whiting and Dabs with a fine smattering of Cod and Codling throughout.  More recently catches have tailed off a bit, pretty much as expected at this time of year, although the Dogfish have now returned in a vengeance.  The next couple of months are expected to be on the quiet side, but look out for a run of Spring Cod/Codling and remember, in was in March last year that a 27 pounder was caught!!!

Things have gone from one extreme to the other since the last update.  During the Christmas holidays the Admiralty was performing second to none, with reports of over 400 Cod/Codling caught during the week and allegedly 20 of these were in double figures!!!  Who said the Cod had been virtually wiped out? (probably have been now!).  Since then catches have returned to normal for this time of year and now mainly consist of Dogfish.  Local regular Dave Mitchell surprisingly stayed long enough to catch 25 in one session, his limit normally being 2 or 3 before he gives up!!!!  Eyes will now be turning towards the return of the Mackerel, but that should be some way off yet, although you are quite welcome to try now if you wish!

Parking at the Admiralty Pier - There are now additional parking bays inside the entrance to the Cruise Terminal to alleviate some of the congestion and these are Pay and Display just like the others.  With the Meters now working, it is essential that you purchase a ticket for the duration of your trip as there have been a number of angry anglers caught out but the rigorous clamping regime being enforced.  The DSAA cannot be held accountable for the failure of the angler to adhere to the parking regulations, and if you ignore all the warnings, you only have yourself to blame.  You have been warned!

The Prince of Wales Pier

Hard months ahead for the P.O.W. with only really small fish to be caught, but it's always worth having a go along side the wall on the bottom with Maddies for Flounder.

Boat Reports

The weather as always either helps or hinders these poor chaps, but whichever way it falls no reports have been forthcoming, but no doubt I would have heard if anything good had come up.
